LUCILLE H. DEUTSCH, CALA, CMC

Founder and President, LHD Eldercare Solutions, LLC

Lucille Deutsch opened her private geriatric care management practice in 2002. For Lucy, it was not simply a business decision, but a calling. She had been a caregiver to two generations of her extended family and she learned, first hand, that navigating the complexities and bureaucracies of the eldercare system can be daunting and overwhelming. It became her mission – and her passion – to share her personal and professional expertise with the aging population and their caregivers. For more than two decades, Lucy has served as a resource and an advocate for our community of older adults, as well as those who love and care for them.

Lucy is certified as a professional Geriatric Care Manager by the National Academy of Certified Care Managers, and has a post-graduate education in gerontology from both Rutgers and Boston Universities. She is a proud member of the Aging Life Care Association (formerly the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers), is licensed as an Assisted Living Administrator by the State of New Jersey, and serves as a consultant to the Mental Health Association of Morris County. Lucy is certified by the National Council for Behavioral Health as an instructor in Mental Health First Aid for Older Adults.

In addition to her private practice, Lucy also serves the community on the Steering Committee of the Caregivers Coalition, an initiative of United Way of Northern New Jersey. She has served on the board of the Long-Term Living Association, as well as the Family/Visitor Council of Morris View Healthcare Center, and worked as Director of Geriatric and Caregiver Outreach for Cornerstone Family Programs (formerly Family Service of Morris County), as well as Director of Adult Ministries for The Presbyterian Church of Morris Plains.

  • I reached out to Lucy when she was referred to me by my most trusted resource. That she would be competent, professional, and excellent at what she does, I knew would be true. But that she handled a potentially difficult situation with ease, charm, and dispatch was just the icing on the cake. She laid out the case and the hospital discharge necessities for my sister with clarity and empathy. I can’t thank Lucy enough for the help she gave us at such a crucial time in our lives.

  • Lucy Deutsch has been a member of the United Way of Northern New Jersey Caregivers Coalition for over ten years, and is a valued member of our Steering Committee. She was also the Chairperson for our Munch & Learn Committee, developing a program of professional presentations providing family caregivers with the information and education they needed to guide them along their caregiving journey.  Lucy, herself, was and still is our most requested presenter. The program evaluations she receives are always outstanding. Her professionalism and personal experience, combined with a sincere passion for helping older adults and their families, resonates with all who have the pleasure of working with her or being served by her.

  • Heart, empathy, kindness, and patience, plus quintessential expertise. That’s what Lucy Deutsch shared with my dad and my family. Were it not for Lucy, my dad would not have lived as long and as well as he did. If you need a geriatric care manager who will make all the difference in the world, Lucy is the one.

  • I own and operate a non-emergency medical transport company for seniors. I referred a client of mine to Lucy because the client was having a serious family caregiver issue that needed immediate attention. I knew that Lucy was the best person to handle the challenge. She stepped in at my request and expertly solved my client’s problem with care and compassion and brought the family together to a very happy ending. I wholeheartedly recommend Lucy’s talents and expertise to help anyone who may need assistance or advice with their elder loved ones.

  • Lucy Deutsch has been a godsend. I don’t know where my mother – or I – would be without having had her expert advice and counsel. Lucy’s comprehensive assessment of my mom, along with the recommendations and referrals Lucy made, have ensured that my mother now has all the assistance she needs. I’m no longer overwhelmed by the details of my mom’s medical care and, now that my mom participates in the activities of a local day center, I no longer worry about her social isolation. My mom is so much happier – and I get to be a daughter, again!

  • As a former colleague of Lucy’s, and as a fellow geriatric care manager, I know Lucy to be the consummate professional. She is accomplished in dealing with complex, challenging situations and always has an innovative solution, one that she offers with great compassion and expertise. I admire Lucy’s energy, her dedication, and her commitment to her clients and their caregivers, all of which translates so beautifully to the caregiver education programs she provides to the community.

  • Lucy beat the ambulance to the ER. She stayed with my mother well into the night. Lucy was there when I couldn’t be, and she ensured my mom got every medical consultation necessary. Lucy was there the next day when my mother had emergency surgery and kept me informed every step of the way. She was the ultimate advocate for my mom and provided all the guidance I needed when I was hundreds of miles away. I know she gave my mom the same care she would have given her own mother and, for that, I will be forever grateful.

  • My dad was in a bad way at home. Not taking care of himself. Not eating well. Sad. Lonely. No one in my family could bring him out of his depression after my mom died. Lucy was the one who was able to cajole him into accepting a couple of hours of help a week at home and, ultimately, get some bereavement counseling. I know he’ll never be the same after losing my mom, but the fact that he can interact with us as a family, again, is light years from where he was. Thank you, Lucy.
